Plassi old town is located at the mouth of the river Kalajoki on the north bank.  It is an old trade and market place which is where the word Plassi derives from. Plassi is a lively village, rich in historical culture and charm with a variety of historical wooden houses. Plassi also has a long tradition in trade, seamanship, craftsmanship and the saw industry which have all been part of the area.
